2016 FTWG Update and Cancellation Elk Hunt Deals
Here’s one we all know and love:
“The mountains are calling and I must go.” – John Muir
Now you are thinking, “But the paperwork is piling up! The report isn’t done, my coworkers can’t handle it if I go on this elk hunt!”
And a new quote for you:
“The mountains are calling and you must go. It’s going to be awesome, work can wait and, not to mention, you already sent your deposit.” – Cliff
2016 Hunting
Jokes aside, we can’t wait for this year’s group of hunters. We started putting in camps over the past two weeks, getting ready for a bunch of archers hunting the high country with us this fall and a full schedule of hunters throughout the rifle seasons. As I write this, we have a couple groups of archers in and, unlike the last few opening weekends, it does feel like fall already. Aspens are turning and we have already heard a few early bugles. Could be interesting.
One important note for all of you hunting with us this year. All the final hunter packets, including dates, final amount owed, directions, gear lists, etc… have been sent out via email. Please look these over and make sure the information is correct. If you are expecting a packet and have not received it, let us now as soon as possible.
Operations Update
We had a great summer, with a bunch of capital projects done on the pack station, camp improvements and training up some new mules and horses. Hunters will notice several improvements to camp gear. In addition, we have worked with the forest service to move a couple camps to better locations for hunters.
In August, the crew got up for some fishing adventures and scouting. We took a great group, Alpha Architect, on a corporate adventure across the Flat Tops and did several fishing trips for visiting families.
FTWG is looking forward to having two new hunting guides working for us in 2016, Chance Berry and Jimmy Oswald. Check them out on the staff page. Both are experienced guides and are looking forward to being part of the guiding team in the remote camps during the rifle seasons.
Cancellation Hunt Deal
Due to a late cancellation in our 2nd season guided camp, we are looking for a group of 2-4 hunters to join us at a discounted rate. Please contact us at booking@ftguides.com for more details. The season is 9 days so we have some flexibility on pack-in and pack-out dates. Season dates: 10/22-10/30. Like all of our hunts, this is a wilderness pack-in hunt on horses and mules. Guiding is done on a 2×1 basis. Elk tags can be purchased over-the-counter.
